For a footwear brand, the shoelace is a daily touchpoint with your customer: it gets touched, pulled and tied thousands of times over the life of the shoe. A generic lace works; a lace developed for your product — in your brand’s exact color, cut to the right length for your last, with the right tip for your eyelet — communicates quality without saying a word.
The first things to customize are construction and color. Construction (flat, tubular or round; with or without a core) is chosen for the shoe type and eyelet. Color is developed against a reference: if your brand manual specifies a Pantone, a manufacturer with in-house dyeing can match it and keep it consistent between lots — which is exactly where improvised suppliers fail. Combinations are also on the table: heathered effects, two-tone and fashion treatments.
The second front is the tip (aglet). It is not a minor detail: the tip defines how the lace threads, how long it lasts and how it looks. We work with nine tip types — from classic clear acetate to plastic and metal tips, including the T-bar (dove) tip used on packaging handles — and the choice depends on eyelet diameter, footwear use and brand positioning. A metal tip on a premium boot, or a contrast-color tip on an urban line, are design decisions that cost cents per pair.
Exact length matters more than it seems: a short lace forces tight knots that come undone, a long one hangs and gets stepped on. The practical rule goes by eyelet pairs, and we publish a lace-length calculator on our site to land the right range before quoting. In production, length is cut to your specification — you don’t have to settle for someone else’s size chart.
